Four miles north of the Mexican border is a town called Ruby. At one time, 1500 people lived here. Now, the population is 1. When the closed down the mine in the 1930's or so, the town was abandoned. Last Saturday, we took mom and dad down and checked it out. There are not many people out there. We ran into border patrol, was followed in a helicopter, got stopped by the "Samaritans" to make sure we were ok (we were) and just missed the group "no more deaths" who were hiking to the border from Ruby. However, we did not see any illigals (that we know of anyway). Oh, and the caretaker of Ruby is one vey eccentric man who lives out there by himself. It was a very interesting day.
When we left we went home through Aravaca and Amado. Here is the Longhorn Grill.

Those photos of Ruby are almost - haunting. Very well captured!
LOVE your photos! It's so neat take virtual tours of both my birth state (AZ) and my "adopted" state (WA)on the same blog! :)
Thank you both for your comments. They are very appreciated.
