Coronado getaway

Over Memorial Day Weekend, Jim and I decided to head to San Diego to get some fresh air. It has been windy and dusty here for weeks and I was just feeling that I couldn't breathe among other things. Every year in May we plan a little trip to celebrate our anniversary. This year was our lucky 13th Anniversary. Jim let me plan the trip and just went along for the ride ;-) We stayed at Hotel Del Coronado, which is right on the Coronado Beach. The hotel is old and supposedly haunted although we didn't see any ghosts. Jim did notice our bathroom light turning on and off by itself during the night. I'm glad he didn't tell me until after we left. We spent an amazing 2 days at the Coronado Hotel. I didn't realize how much I missed the ocean until I was standing in it. I was overwhelmed by the fresh air, the sound of the waves, the smell of the ocean and the feel of the sand as the waves washed back into the surf. I loved the town of Coronado. Each morning we would walk down to Starbucks for breakfast and also head back early afternoon for dinner. The town is clean and the people are friendly. We checked out of the hotel and went into San Diego and visited the USS Midway Museum. You can see those photos here:

They are really not very interesting unless you really like air craft carriers. After the museum we headed back to Coronado and checked into Lowes Coronado Bay Resort. It wasn't quite as exciting as the Coronado Hotel but they had boat rentals. Its much cheaper renting a boad then buying a boat so off we went and explored the bay. We also got some pool time and beach time on the Silver Strand beach. It was an amazing long weekend. I enjoyed it so much. It was really hard for me to come back to the desert. The New Mexico fire is causeing heavy smoke over Tucson and it has given us horrible air quality. Oh well. Maybe I'll have to get out of town again soon.
Built in 1988 - A beautiful luxary high class but creepy hotel.

I went for a 2 mile run that started here.

and ran the last mile here.  Amazing Coronado Beach!

This reminded me of a comic book bank.

Warm afternoon at hotel. Lots going on.

Silver Strand Beach - not as pretty as Coronado Beach but still pretty fun.

A nice place that we liked to sit.

Another nice place I like to sit...I mean lay.

Wow! I'm jealous! Sun, wind and Cali! What's not to love? The only thing missing is a big inflatable alligator tagging along with you and Jim. I must send you one sometime, just for old time's sake!:)

Congratulations on thirteen years of wedded bliss! You guys make it look easy and worth it and I know the work that takes so admire you even more for it!

Thanks for sharing your adventure! I have always stated that if I have to be homeless I am going to be homeless in San Diego!

Talk to you soon!

Hey! Thanks Traci and Tim for your comments. Traci- do you remember what the alligators name was. I just can't remember..

Tim, thanks so much. I have been blessed by being married to Jim. Life can be hard but the love comes easy.

Awesome! I'm hoping to get down to that area soon because Josh is working there for the rest of the year! I love that you rented a boat and cruised around, what a great idea! Happy Anniversary!
