Work in progress - update

Jim and I took a week off over the holidays to work on our house. Its a good thing we aren't getting paid by the hour because I am sure we would have been fired. Let me just say that if I don't see another paintbrush for a long time...I will be very happy.

The good news is that we are almost to the stopping point...for now. We got the living room painted. its done. The new floor is in. Some wacky light fixtures are fixed. The kitchen is clean and ready to move in - with special thanks to my mother in law for helping with that. She made it sparkle.

This last weekend, we worked on painting the dining room and the hallway. They are 95% done. All we need to do is some touchup and put on the electrical outlet covers and switch plates.

So, here are a few of the photos from working on the living room. The high ceilings made it very challenging and scary. There were times when my knees where quivering. Its not perfect but we did the painting ourselves and I am glad for that. There is something satisfactory about doing the work yourself instead of hiring it done. And of course, I would have been fired already if I had been hired for the job.
This ceiling is really a long way up there.

Jims artwork.  He still loves me after all this.

Cutting in the fireplace

Master bedroom is painted.  We went for a nice cheerful blue/white.

Our first dinner w guests at our new place.

Some very special friends came to help us paint.  Plastic ware, paper plates a folding table and a crock pot.  S brought some of the meal and together it was a feast.

The fireplace is getting painted too
When its all done and we are moved in, I will post the before and after photos.

Thanks. Its a lot of work and I will be so glad when I can sit on the balcony with a cup of coffee and relax and enjoy. It would even be better if you both where there to chat with. :-)

I feel bad that this has been up so long and I haven't commented yet... however I am right now rectifying this situation.

I love the progress... its been fun to follow the steps and think that soon this new spot will be "home" for you and Jim.

Its Chinooking here today so very comfortable and most of the snow is turning to sloppy slush and ice.

I have to run... but wanted to acknowledge the update and say hello.
