Practice shots

I haven't posted alot of photos since I got my new camera (Canon Rebel XTI). It takes some pratice to learn how it works and how to get used to everything. Here are some practice shots that I took in the back yard. The second photo I like because the bird was watching the dogs under the tree. I wonder what it was thinking.

Oh i'm sooo jealous of your hummingbird pictures! Especially the 1st one and the 2nd one as a close 2nd. They are AMAZING!

What cute bird photos! One of them looks like a cactus wren (the AZ state bird).

My family and I are all flying into Phx. on the 16th for my dad's funeral.

Thank you so much for your comments. Maxine, I have to admit we've had a frost the last week of December and it killed all our green. I took these photos right before that. So now there are no leaves on the fig tree. They fall as soon as there is a frost.
Deanna, the key to good closeups is a good camera and a steady hand or tripod. You should try to get some at your house with all your hummingbirds. Just figure out where there spot is that they watch the feeder from.
Shirley, I am sooooo sorry to hear about your dad.

Beautiful pictures Donna! We just got a Canon XSi and Santa brought me a gorgeous carbon fiber tripod with a swivel attachement to change positions very quickly. It's a great set up and I can't wait to use it more for outdoor photos as the weather improves!

Send some hummingbirds back this way! I miss them because they are so seasonal here. They are also very shy up here, which I found wasn't the case when I went to visit a friend in California.

Hope all is well and that you guys are having a nice New Year!

I could say I am jealous, but since
you have the camera, and are taking the pictures and sharing them with us we don't have to be jealous or go to that expense..!! So thanks for sharing!!!!! I love them!!

Yikes, that looks like one sharp beak. I really enjoy the freshness of your photographs. Keep it up!

Great pictures Donna! The bird was probably thinking "chirp chirp chirpitty chirp chirp" or something to that effect.
