It started at about 5:30am when I got up to make the coffee. I ground the Starbucks Sumatra coffee and put it in the filter. Then put the filter in the holder and slid it into the coffee maker..or so I thought I did. I actually missed it and then it fell. The dogs happen to be at my feet eating breakfast and the coffee grounds covered the dogs, their food, my slippers, and of course the floor. What a way to wake up.
Then I went to work....
What an amazingly beautiful morning. I looked at the mountain and the almost full moon and thought to myself "If only I saw hot air balloons out this morning I may have to be 5 minutes late to take a picture". Low and behold, two hot air balloons rose up and where in the perfect position for a photo. So, I detoured and snapped some photos. Its too bad the photo didn't turn out better. I quess I had higher hopes for my new fancy phone with a 8 mp camera on it.
So then I continue to work.....Driving along....life is good....la la la and WHAM! A big bird (I'm thinking a hawk) flew into the side of my FJ. An explosion of feathers and bird and guts flew (Some on my passenger side window)! I look in the rear view mirror only to see my side passenger mirror twirling around in the road behind me. I find a place to turn around and go back and park and walk around the side of the road looking for my mirror. I found it.
or at least what was left of it. I picked up the mirror and I continue to drive myself to work.
Once at work, I inspect my car to make sure the bird didn't actually dent it. No dents. It could be worse.
So, the broken part of the mirror will cost a little and I can't fix it until Tuesday so I quess the FJ will stay parked this weekend.
I came home and took the dogs outside. Princess brought me a skeleton of a bird which she has never done before. At least she dropped it when I asked for it. I got a paper towel and gave it a garbage can buriel. Jim asked me what I was doing and I told him. He asked if it was a hummingbird. "no, why?" He said that he found a decapitated hummingbird on the ground by the hummingbird feeder this afternoon.
Not a good day for birds today!!! I quess those birds needed a "do over" day too!

Hey, I had to do some fancy driving on the way to school this morning to miss hitting a bird. It would have been very weird if we both hit a bird the same day. Glad your OK.
Wow... yes some days it would be nice to get a "Do Over". At least they come to an end eventually and we get a brand new one again tomorrow!
