Tucson

On January 8, a madman went to a Congresswomen On Your Corner event at a Safeway Supermarket in Tucson and opened fire on the crowd, killing 6 and wounding 19, including congresswoman Gabriel Giffords. It happened just a few miles from where we live. I have not been a supporter of Gabriel Giffords and I sure did not agree with some of the judgements that Judge Roll made (also killed in the rampage) but nobody deserves this.
On Jan 17, I had the day off so I decided to go down to UMC where there was a memorial set up outside the hospital in honor of the victims.
It was beautiful and touching. A few people were there with their guitars and singing Amazing Grace. As I stood there watching, an older man reached out and took my hand. I realized all these people around me where holding hands. They didn't know each other and I surely did not know the man next to me. Its amazing how a tragedy brings a community together.

I went to the Safeway to where the tragedy took place. It was on my way home and I needed to pick up a few items. There, where the shooting happened, was a pile of flowers.
