K5

Today I ran my first official 5K (3.1 miles) with my good friend, Shannon.  It was a benefit for foundation that was put together by the wife of a fallen police officer.  You can find out  more info about him and the foundation at  http://erikhitefoundation.org/index.php/about-erik .  Shannons sister is a police officer and so is my cousin so we felt it was a very good cause.
It was a very chilly morning.  Probably in the low 40's, but it was beautiful and sunny.  The race started at 8:30 and for me....finished at 9:01:11am.  It was really fun and hopefully I will be running some more 5K's soon.   I didn't have the greatest time but it wasn't terrible for my first run.  The last of the top 10 women finished 4 minutes ahead of me.  Next year....

Plotting our strategy

Off we go

The winner of the race - finished in 16 minutes!!

Second place - 18 minutes

No....I didn't come in third...but I did finish about middle of the pack.

Feels good!

Here comes Shannon

She finished too!

Such a goofy picture of both of us.

Shannon and Caeley.  Sorry its blurry

The trophy's that I did not win. The police officer is protecting them in case I secretly try to run off with one.

Nicely done! I love the feeling of the finish line! I had high hopes of getting back into walking, but rolled and fractured my foot at school! Bummer! So, run for me!! :)

Yep... once again a interesting visit! I can definitely see a book here!

Thanks for sharing... noticed it was rather warm there today! 82 is just a tad warmer than the very cool night and snow storms we are having at the moment! Better days ahead according to the weatherperson's.

Talk to you soon.
