One of our friends recently took a drive to find our new house. He got lost. He did finally find it. When he saw us his first question was "What possessed you to buy a house up there?" He said that there is no "Infrastructure" up there. True, it does take us 10 minutes now to get to the freeway and about 15 minutes to get to a grocery store. In monsoon season we could get stranded up there because of the washes. But....we moved there because it is farther away from everything. I don't want to listen to birds over the hum of the busy streets around us. I want to be away from it all. A retreat on the edge of the city.
The contractors that are working on our house love it up there. The other day they shot these pictures of a family of deer on our property. Last night, one of the guys told me that he would love to live there. He loves it. He loves the view and the quietness. He loved seeing the deer. We do have some neighbors and I'm sure they will be happy to see our contractors go. They have a saw set up outside the front door and right now they are working on putting the baseboards in.
Our new house is on the edge of Saguaro National Park. All the wonderful things about Saguaro National Park are at our doorstep, including hiking trails. Yes, we will have to deal with javalina, bobcats, coyotes, mountain Lion, tarantulas, rattlesnakes, deer, etc. but I cant wait to photograph them and share them with you. I've already seen some bugs that I have never seen before (aren't you excited about seeing those pictures ;-)

It’s a stormy snowy day here at the foot of the Rocky Mountains. I will send a picture later showing the snow once again piling up… however due to a friend giving me a snow blower I am actually a little excited at the prospect of needing to use it.
Love the update on your new home and I love the reasons you stated for going where you are going. I can’t wait to come and see it and will love the adventures that go with living there.
The folks we traveled south with are going down to Thermal in California in February… Kelsey might go just to watch for a couple of days this time. She has been sick for several days but is starting to feel like herself again now. Our special meetings are this Sunday, not sure where we are going yet as we have a couple of options right close and a third not too far away. I am looking forward to the “lift” this day will give my spirits.
My Mom and a friend of hers are going to spend a couple of nights with us over the holidays. They arrive on the 24th and Gloria and I will take them to Banff for the day on Dec. 26th and they will stay out there for the night.
Gloria and Liam work on the 27th so we won’t stay out there.
I noted when I logged on that the temperature there today is much nicer than it’s been lately. I have Tucson on my weather feature on my phone so that I keep tabs on the weather even when I don’t get to swing by the blog. When it was Chinooking here we were close in temperature a few mornings although you often climbed higher during the day than we did. We have gotten so much snow that the Chinooks have hardly made a dent in it this winter.
Well writing this I am not getting the jobs into the system that I need to get in there… so off I go to get this task accomplished. Talk to you again soon, special hello to Jim.
