Ok. I know there are alot of smart people out there that can give me an opinion. I need to buy my husband a camera. Not a fancy camera. Just a point and shoot. I would like it to have at least 8 mega pixal and 3X zoom. It needs to be small so its not a bother to carry around with him. Does anybody have a camera like this that they love??????? If so, what is it? Does anybody have a camera brand that they like? Would you buy it on e-bay (new of course)?
Please help. Its kind of overwhelming as to what to get. Any advice on purchasing a camera would be appreciated. Anonymous comments are ok too. I just need some advice.

Panasonic DMZ something.... I did a TON of research on a camera before I bought it. Consumer reports, reviews etc..... The small cameras do not zoom in as well. The one I got is 10x and its not too big. It has an extra stablizer so that the pics aren't blurry! Highly recommend it! I also had a GREAT kodak one. I just dropped it too many times... :) Donna
I'm voting for Canon Powershot. We have two, including the one we got for Rosanna's (our oldest daughter) birthday this year. Hers is nice and compact but is still easy to hold...and it has image stabilization (a very good feature). The model is A570 IS.

I love my Nikon coolpix - it is tiny and takes great pictures.
Oops! Rosanna's Canon A570 is only 7.1 megapixals, but I don't think there's much difference.... Ours is 8 (model A630)...and probably other Canon models are 8, too.
Oh Donna! The camera you should get Jim is the camera that I have. It's a camera power shot. I'm not sure what model it is, but i DID find out that is is not waterproof (diet Pepsi exploded in my purse) But it is small and subtle. I don' think it has 8 mega pixels, but it takes great pictures anyways. there might be better models of it w/ more mega pixels.
