Update

Hi! Its been ages since I've written. Obviously I'm not a very good blogger. We have been so busy the last week and a half I have not had the time to write. The biggest thing last week is that we listed the Jeep on the internet (auto trader) and it sold within 24 hours. I was so bummed out. I loved driving the Jeep but Jim was fed up with it. The people that bought it where so excited to get such a great vehicle. Oh, well. Then Jim went a bought me a VW Jetta 2.0 turbo to drive. I had a hard time getting excited because I lost the Jeep but I've been driving it for a week now and I love it. I can't see out as well as the Jeep but I'll get used to it. I like that the gas mileage is over double what the jeep got.

The weekend was spent doing the usual. We went to a baseball game with some friends and had a great time. Now the workers are here. So what a busy week.

I don't know if any of you saw on the news about two P-51 mustangs crashing at OshKosh. How tragic. This was a bad weekend for plane crashes. Anyway, Jim recognized one of the planes as Precious Metal from the Reno Air Races and so we had to do a bit of research to find out if it was the same plane. Well, it wasn't the same plane. Its still tragic though. Here is a link to a news report and footage of the crash.

The guy in the first plane was a 24 year old pilot Casey Odegaard. His father is Bob Odegaard of http://www.odegaardaviation.homestead.com/ They have a least 3 planes that they have at the Reno Air Races. He was buddies with the guy in the second plane. They had just given a demostration flight about the air races and choose to land in formation. To Jim and I, it looks like the guy in the first plane put on the brakes when he touched down. I don't know, obviously the FAA will figure all that out. But if you are intersted in Aviation, read this article.

The plane that crashed was a home buildt P-51. Pretty amazing. The first year he flies at OshKosh he dies. So, the reason Jim recognized the plane was because it was painted as a replica of the P-51 Precious Metal that flies at Reno. They recently filmed a movie in which they used Gerry Becks home buildt P-51 and the real "Precious Metal". The movie is about the Reno Air Races. Here is a link where you can see the trailor: http://www.thunderoverreno.com/ You'll get an idea of what the Air Races are like. Anyway, I can't wait to go this year. It kind of gets in your blood. Pretty amazing I don't like to fly but I love watching them.

Well, enough for tonight. I don't have any pictures to post so I'll add some from our last AirRaces trip.

I'm going to forward that video to Brian Behrend. I had lunch with him today and he didn't mention it... but maybe it just didn't come up...
Thanks for the updates and stuff.

Sorry to hear that the Jeep is no longer, but sounds like you're getting attached to the new hot rod!:) The gas milage is definitely a bonus! Yes, we heard about the crashes. So sad. And the news helicopters in Phoenix too. I'm sure you saw the footage about the news dog that didn't ride that day and his life was spared. He's going to live with the pilots Mom. Fun to see your updates.

I didn't hear about the dog that didn't take the ride in the helocopter. What a lucky pup!
Lane, the media didn't cover to much of the details of the P-51 crash. I hate to see such awesome planes (and people) go down like that. Most likely just a stupid error that took only seconds.
